In 2024 Lori Pensini was selected by judges in 16 prizes as a finalist - it is a truly impressive achievement. In the five years we have been tracking finalists there has never been anyone come close. The other top finalists in 2024 were selected in 8 or less* prize exhibitions. One might assume that Pensini also entered more prizes than the other finalists in this list, but without knowing how many prizes each artist actually entered, we’ll settle for the simple count of prizes each artist was selected in.
BTW: Lori Pensini was a finalist in at least 6 prizes in 2022 and at least 9 prizes in 2023.
* We have done our best to document the results for the majority of art prizes in Australia (over 95 prizes this year) but this is not the entirety of all prizes held in Australia so it is more accurate to say that these artists were in at least this many prizes.
