Young Masters Art Prize

CALL FOR ARTISTS: THE 6TH EDITION OF THE YOUNG MASTERS ART PRIZE IS NOW OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS! This unique initiative encourages emerging and mid-career contemporary artists to look back to the art of the past for inspiration. Young Masters recognises and showcases artists who show originality, skill and imagination in response to art history, and for artists working in Ceramics there is a dedicated Young Masters Maylis Grand Ceramics Prize, which runs concurrently with the Young Masters Art Prize. Submissions can be made by artists from anywhere in the world, working in any media via the CuratorSpace platform until midnight BST on 11 June 2023.

FIND OUT MORE AND APPLY HERE Up to 15 artists will be shortlisted for the Young Masters Art Prize, and up to 10 ceramicists will be shortlisted for the Young Masters Maylis Grand Ceramics Prize. All shortlisted artists will feature in an exhibition in two parts, at 67 York Street in central London coinciding with Frieze week in October 2023. Prizes for the Young Masters Art Prize include an Overall Award of £1,500, and two Highly Commended prizes of £500 each, awarded by the Artists Collecting Society.

The Young Masters Maylis Grand Ceramics Prize has an Overall Award of £1,000 and a Highly Commended prize of £500, generously given by James and Maylis Grand. For a third edition, Dr Chris Blatchley awards the Emerging Woman Artist Award of £1,000, along with mentoring, career advice and inclusion in an upcoming Art Fair with The Cynthia Corbett Gallery. Brownhill Insurance Group also support the People’s Choice Award with a £500 prize.

Two shortlisted artists working within the expanded field of craft will receive the new Cockpit Prize from Cockpit, including four sessions with a Cockpit business coach, and participation in the Make It Count programme.
