The Harold and Agnes Richardson Drawing prize is an open competition calling for artists to demonstrate their drawing skills. Harold Richardson was the first gallery director of the Royal Queensland Art Society and a long standing president, his wife Agnes was also an integral part of the Society as an artist and in supporting the RQAS to develop and grow. This prize is awarded in their memory and made possible by an endowment of funds from their estate.

This prize celebrates the practice of drawing, a foundational skill for good artistic practice. Artists are invited to submit drawings completed in a variety of media including (but not limited to) pencil, charcoal, or pen. Artists entering a Drawing may also enter a supporting sketchbook to be displayed in the finalist’s exhibition.
