This is an annual invitational art prize - the closing date is only indicative.

Each year the Redlands School invites a respected curator to select up to 20 of Australia and New Zealand’s finest contemporary artists to exhibit. They in turn each nominate one emerging artist to participate. This two-tier presentation always results in an exciting exhibition of extraordinary talent.

The two winning artworks are acquired by the School. Consequently Redlands now has a unique collection of Australian contemporary art, which has become integral to our visual arts learning program.

The curator will select approximately 18 contemporary Australian and New Zealand artists to participate in the exhibition. Each of the selected artists will in turn nominate an "emerging" artist to also participate.

In the ethos of the Redlands Konica Minolta Art Prize, in 2004 a new format was introduced whereby emerging artists were encouraged to exhibit their work at the invitation of an established artist. This platform allows for continuing growth and development of the next generation of contemporary artists.

Prizes:

  • The winning entry is awarded $25,000 (acquisitive)
  • The winning emerging artist is awarded $10,000 (acquisitive)
  • Viewers' Choice - $1,000
