This bequest is awarded biennially.

The Noosa Stone Sculpture Bequest is awarded biennially to a Stone Sculptor, who is an Australian citizen. It enables the winner to travel to Italy to work for two months alongside an international community of sculptors at Studio Corsanini in Carrara. The Bequest is designed to be of particular interest to mid-career artists with substantial expertise, wishing to extend their abilities and absorb the experiences presented by our unique Carrara Connection.

The stone sculpture walk at Noosa Botanic Gardens will present artworks that express a theme relating to The Emotions of a Lifetime. It is expected that a range of contemporary and classic stone sculpture techniques will be used to explore the diversity in human emotions, both shared and private - as our individual worlds cycle from birth to death.
Noosa Botanic Gardens are located on the shores of Lake Macdonald, a short drive from Noosa via the hinterland town of Cooroy. The gardens comprise eight hectares of native and exotic plant species, and include an open air bush chapel, fern house, lily pond, large lawn areas with winding paths leading to delightful picnic areas, and a Grecian style amphitheatre. The gardens are home to an abundance of wildlife. Originally farmland, the site was resumed by the then council in the late 1950s, and part of it was used to create the Lake Macdonald water supply. The gardens were officially opened to the public in August 1990.
