Selection - Entry is by invitation only. 

The National New Media Art Award is a three year program first held in 2008, comprising a biennial acquisitive Award of $75 000 and an exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art; and a biennial scholarship of $25 000. The inaugural exhibition was held in 2008 and the third exhibition will be held from 3 August to 4 November 2012. The Award recognises the achievement of an Australian artist whose work encompasses new media. The Scholarship will be awarded to an emerging Queensland-based artist working in the field of new media for the development of their practice through further study or travel.

The Premier of Queensland's National New Media Art Award feature the work of leading new media artists. An Award of $75 000 will be presented to one of the exhibiting artists. The exhibition and award will be presented every two years and winning works will become part of the Queensland Art Gallery's permanent collection.

The Scholarship will be awarded to an emerging Queensland-based artist working in the field of new media for the development of their practice through further study, travel or related professional development opportunities. The Scholarship recipient's work is not included in the exhibition.

There is also a $25,000 scholarship awarded. 

Judging:

A selection committee comprising Suhanya Raffel, the Gallery’s Deputy Director, Curatorial and Collection Development, Queensland Art Gallery, Gallery of Modern Art; Amy Barrett-Lennard, Director of the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts; and new media artist Daniel Crooks
