Presented by the Mansfield District Racing Club (MDRC), The National Equine Art Prize 2019, commemorates over 160 years of country racing with a celebration of ‘The High Country Horse’. The High Country region is synonymous with horses of various character, including: Brumbies, Mountain Cattlemen and their horses, The Rodeo, Draught Horses, Trail Riding, Country Racing Thoroughbreds and the everyday High Country horse.
The Art Prize is open to all Australian residents working to capture a realistic two-dimensional (2D) representation of the High Country Horse. Total prize monies of $6,000 include: $4,000 Winners Prize; $1,000 People’s Choice Prize; $500 Highly Commended Prize and; $500 Local Artist Prize (Mansfield Shire Residents). All Prizes are non-acuisitive (retained or sold by the artist).
The Winner will be chosen by renowned artist Richard Watson. The Judges decision on finalists and winners will be final and no further correspondence shall be entered into. 40 finalist works will be selected and showcased at The National Equine Art Prize Exhibit, held in an exclusive marquee OPEN to all, as part of the MDRC Mansfield Cup Day Races on Saturday April 6th 2019. People's Choice voting will be conducted on exhibition day with every entry going into the draw to win a $500 prize! An Awards Presentation to announce all winners will be held trackside after the final race. Each finalist is invited to attend the Race Day & Exhibition with a complimentary ticket included in the submission fee. To be considered for selection, a competitor must comply with all entry instructions and conditions.
