The Maitland Art Prize is a long, established and prestigious country art prize. In its 51st year since its inauguration the Maitland Art Prize has became a sculpture only prize.

The Maitland Art Prize was established in 1957 and until 2004 past winners formed the nucleus of the Maitland Regional Gallery Permanent Collection. The entries are exhibited in the Thomas Morgan Pavilion at the Maitland Showground during the period of the Maitland Show held annually in February. The inaugural award was held in 1957 and judged by Sir William Dobell.

  • Section A: $2,000 Figurative Sculpture Prize
  • Section B: $2,000 Abstract Sculpture
  • Section C: $250.00 Miniature (work on canvas or paper)
  • Section D: $250.00 Local Section (Framing Award) for a work on paper/canvas by an artist in the Maitland Local Government Area.
  • $250 - People's Choice Award
