HyperVision is a youth art competition created and run by the Hyper Team in the City of Swan. Each year we invite artists to submit work across photography, sculpture, traditional media, fashion/jewellery, short film, and experimental categories for a chance to win amazing prizes and be exhibited in our pop-up gallery at Midland Gate Shopping Centre.

HyperVision: Reality Check asks artists to submit works that represent their view on reality, asking them “what is real?” in their lives, community and on the world stage. Last year we added the experimental category to the mix to encompass digital art, soundbites, graph art and all things weird and wonderful.

This year we have expanded again with the addition of the short film category, encouraging entries from film and media artists. Short films must be under 5 minutes and respond to the 'Reality Check' theme. Please link to your video in your artwork description and provide a 'cover photo' as the attachment.

Any WA resident aged between 12 and 25 who would like their artwork exhibited at HyperVision is encouraged to apply now. Finalist artwork will be exhibited at Midland Gate Shopping Centre for three weeks from 4 July to 24 July and will be on display to over 250,000 people a week. There will be major prizes awarded for each category and an overall winner will take home the grand prize of $1,000 cash, courtesy of Midland Gate Shopping Centre.

To apply please submit an application form and a scanned image or photograph of your artwork by 4pm, Friday 3 June via the HyperVision website: http://www.hyperfest.com.au/HyperVision, or contact Simon O’Leary via simon.oleary@swan.wa.gov.au or 0409 895 251. Please do not send your artwork to the City of Swan at this point.

For more information on the exhibition, art workshops or submitting your work for display at the exhibition, visit www.hyperfest.com.au or www.facebook.com/hypervision or contact Simon O'Leary on 0409 895 251 or simon.oleary@swan.wa.gov.au
