This is a biennial event - it will be next held in 2012.

The Gumbri award was established in 2004, Gumbri: White Dove acknowledges and celebrates the life of Jessie Hunter, a much loved and respected Wurundjeri elder who passed away in 2004. Her Wurundjeri name was Gumbri, meaning white dove.

Gumbri: White Dove is open to visual artists and craftspeople who identify and are accepted as an Indigenous artist who live, work, study, or who have a demonstrated significant connection to the State of Victoria.

Prizes:

  • Gumbri: White Dove Award (acquisitive) - $3,500 and a solo exhibition at the Bundoora Homestead

  • DATSICC Award (acquisitive) for best emerging artist - $2,500
  • People's Choice - $500

Fees: There is no entry fee in 2010.

Winner Announced: The winner is announced on the 10th June 2010.
