All UK based artists graduated since 2008, and whose primary medium is painting or drawing, are invited to apply for the Griffin Art Prize 2013. Entry is £15 per application. Applicants must be fine art graduates and eligible to stay in the UK until the end of the residency in September 2014. Works submitted for the Griffin Art Prize 2013 must have been made since 2008 and remain available until March 2014.
The winner of the Griffin Art Prize 2013 will have a large, well lit studio space with the additional benefit of a supply of materials from top fine art brands: Winsor & Newton, Liquitex and Conté à Paris. The studio is located next to a state of the art Innovation & Development department, where chemists work on the development of fine art products. The winner of the Griffin Art Prize 2013 will be in the unique position of having this fine art materials’ expertise on his or her doorstep.
The winning artist will have the time and space to produce work for a one person exhibition in the Griffin Gallery. Accompanied by a catalogue, this exhibition will be an outstanding individual showcase. The Griffin Gallery and artists’ studios are in the Studio Building, two minutes’ walk from Latimer Road tube station and ten minutes from Shepherds Bush. The Studio Building is based in a part of West London with an urban and business mix in addition to a strong creative community with many artists’ studios nearby. An allowance will be available to the winner to help meet expenses.
The winner must be able to take up residency in the Studio Building, Evesham Street London W11 4AJ by March 2014 and continue until his / her one person show in the Griffin Gallery in September 2014. The winning artist will have a studio fully stocked with products of choice from Winsor & Newton, Liquitex and Conté à Paris, they will also receive an allowance to help meet travel and other costs.
