This is a biennial event which occurs on even years.

The Geelong contemporary art prize is a signature event that assists with the development of the Gallery’s collection while fostering Australian artists and contemporary painting practice in general. The Geelong Contemporary Art Prize (Fletcher Jones Art Prize) is a biennial event that continues the tradition of the Geelong Contemporary Art Prize that was initiated by the Geelong Art Gallery Foundation in 1996. This is an acquisitive Prize, conducted by the Geelong Gallery.

Prize

This year the $30,000 prize money is generously provided by the Dimmick Charitable Trust. The prize-winning work becomes the property of the Gallery upon payment of the prize money to the winning entrant.
