The Macquarie Digital Portraiture Award is an annual event intended to extend traditional notions of portraiture and reflects the National Portrait Gallery’s commitment to fostering emerging artists between the ages of 18 and 30 with an interest in contemporary technology. The Award specifically targets artists during the development of their practice and provides support and exposure when it is needed most.p>
Prize
Macquarie Digital Portraiture Award
All entrants will be judges for this category. The recipient of the Macquarie Digital Portraiture Award will receive a cash award of $10,000 and a residency at The Edge (valued at $15,000).
Macquarie Digital Portraiture Young Adult Award (aged 18 - 30 at time of entry).
All entrants aged 18 – 30 will automatically be judged for this category (in addition to category one). The recipient of the Macquarie Digital Portraiture Young Adult Award for 2015 will be provided with an exciting multifaceted professional development program valued at $15,000. This package will provide a unique opportunity for the award winner to develop their practice and to communicate with leaders in the digital and contemporary arts field. The length of the residency will be negotiated with the artist, the residency partners and the National Portrait Gallery, but we’d expect it to be around 4-6 weeks.
It is possible that an entrant aged 18 – 30 may be judged as the winner of both categories, if their entry is judged as the most compelling overall.
