The Australia Council is offering grants of up to $40,000 to support at least ten creative partnerships between artists working in Australia and artists working in Asia.
The objectives of this initiative are to:
- increase artistic collaborations with Asia leading to the creation of new work,
- develop long term networks between artists in Australia and Asia.
Decisions advised by May 2014 and eligible projects commence from 1st June 2014.
Scope
Applications will be accepted from all artforms supported by the Australia Council, including emerging and experimental arts, community arts and cultural development and any hybrid of these artforms.
Each project must be a collaboration between artists in both countries and achieve two or more of the following outcomes:
- delivery of workshops for the purpose of artistic exchange and development of networks in both countries,
- presentation in both countries of final development showings or a programme of open studio visits with curators or potential presenting partners,
- presentation in both countries of the completed work.
What is funded
This initiative provides a contribution towards any costs associated with the development and/or presentation of the work, including but not limited to artists’ fees, travel costs and per diems, transport and freight costs and production costs.
Applicants are expected to secure additional resources, both financial and in kind to support the proposed activities and to provide evidence of this support through letters of confirmation.
Please note that this initiative will not support works in repertoire or touring existing works.
A presentation can be a publication of new writing, a season of live performance, a visual art exhibition, or the release of a set of recordings.
