City of Kalgoorlie Boulder Art Prize

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Art Prize is a popular and esteemed regional art competition that attracts artists from all across Australia. It is a long-standing annual event that has become an important occasion in the Western Australian arts calendar and this year offers prizes totalling more than $37,000.

This is an opportunity to recognise, celebrate and embrace our regional creative industries. This year’s Art Prize theme is "A Place to Call Home" and we welcome submissions from a variety of mediums.

A panel of esteemed Australian art judges will select the winning entries and the winners will be announced at the Awards Night on 20th September 2019 in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

The 2019 Art Prize exhibition will open weekdays from 9am to 5pm and weekends from 10am to 3pm from 21st September until 23rd October at the Goldfields Arts Centre. The 2019 invitation only Awards Night will be held on Friday 20th September 2019.

The Art Prize the following award categories:

  • Acquisitive Major Prize: $15,000
  • First Nations Art Award: $3,000 (eligible artists must identify as Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander)
  • Best Artwork by a Kalgoorlie-Boulder Artist: $4,000 (eligible artists must currently reside in Kalgoorlie-Boulder)
  • Work on Paper: $3,000
  • Painting: $3,000
  • Best Photography: $3,000
  • Best Sculpture & Jewellery: $3,000
  • Young Artist (13-18 years old): $2,000
  • People’s Choice Award: $1,000
