Chalk Urban Art Festival is the largest urban art festival in the Southern Hemisphere.

The programme includes: chalk art, face & body painting, climate change talks and fun activities for everyone to join in.

Up to 40 artists will compete for the title of Champion Pavement Artist and other prizes.

This year Face & Body Painting Competitions will also be held. The face painting competition will be held Saturday 31st October and the body painting competition will be held Sunday 1st November.

Pavement art has a long history in Europe dating back to the middle ages in Italy where artists used the pavement as their canvas and chalk as their medium to transform streets and sidewalks into beautiful works of art. Still hugely popular today, there are dozens of festivals and competitions held across North America & Europe each year attracting hundreds of thousands of people.
