CALL OUT: Cause & Effect: Artists for Social Change Exhibition Are you a Visual Artist? Here is an opportunity to spark change. Carnival of the Bold and MLC Gallery and Design - Cultural Bites have come together to present Cause & Effect. We are looking for 5 visual artists whose artistic practices explore diverse visual approaches to allow our audience to consider and deliberate complex, multi-faceted, and sensitive social issues. It will give a voice to marginalised communities and raise the profile of these social causes. Cause and Effect is a visual arts exhibition by 5 artists that is designed to put a spotlight on six social cause themes: War & Conflict, Incarceration, Environmental Destruction, Domestic Violence, Racism, and Islamophobia. The themes were picked to reflect some of the current social issues in Australian society. The project will kick off with a visual arts exhibition for 2 weeks including a showcase night, where all the artist will be invited to speak about their inspiration to produce their artwork, exploring empathy and its various manifestations, from social justice and human rights, to environmental conservation and global warming. Each artist will receive a $500 stipend for the project.
