The Mount Warning Wollumbin Caldera is found on Australia’s east coast - straddling the Qld/NSW border.  Originally a massive shield volcano, it has eroded to form a ‘cauldron-like cavity’ (with Mt. Warning at its centre). The term Caldera refers to this unusual type of geological feature.

The local government areas of Tweed, Scenic Rim, Gold Coast, Kyogle, Lismore, Byron and Ballina all benefit from being part of this distinct bio-region and are linked by a series of vehicle touring routes – the Rainforest Way. Furthermore, the region is now recognised as an iconic National Landscape known as Australia’s Green Cauldron.

Artists are encouraged to use their work to promote the region’s biodiversity values and/or address conservation issues. Subject matter may be any flora or fauna species, habitat, or ecosystem relevant to the region. Entry is open to all visual artists working in any style and medium (indluding still photography).

35 finalists will be selected for the exhibition.

Contact: for more information email info@calderaart.org.au.

Venue: Caldera Art  at the Tyalgum Festival, then  Tweed River Art Gallery, Murwillumbah, then  Caldera Art at O’Reilly’s, followed by the fellowship exhibition  Caldera Art Fellowships exhibition.
