9 Project Spaces 9 Nominees 9 Solo Exhibitions

The Berlin Art Prize e.V. has shown the work of its annual nominees in centrally-located group exhibitions five times. This year, the Berlin Art Prize team seeks to collaborate with the many places in the city where new, independent art transpires. For the sixth edition of the independent award, the Berlin Art Prize e.V. will present nine nominees with nine solo exhibitions in nine project spaces in September, accompanied by a discursive supporting program of events.

The jury, chosen for their close involvement with the Berlin art scene, will select the nominees using an anonymous process.

During the nominee solo exhibitions, three winners of the Berlin Art Prize 2019 will be chosen. The sixth edition of the Berlin Art Prize launches with a new exhibition concept: this year’s nominees will present their work in solo exhibitions in collaboration with nine of the city’s project spaces. Taking place simultaneously in September, the nine exhibitions will be accompanied by a discursive supporting program of events.

With this, the Berlin Art Prize e.V. expands and shifts its role from a prize for new art to become a collaborative project with the independent scene. After an anonymous selection process, a five-person jury will choose nine nominees to present their work in nine solo exhibitions in Berlin project spaces.

Three winners of the Berlin Art Prize will receive a residency, prize money, and a trophy designed for the occasion. Deadline April 30, 2019 Apply Now!
